HKUST School of Engineering (SENG), the Center for Industry Engagement & Internship (IEI), and the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) have co-hosted the HKUST School of Engineering Alumni & Friends Reception in San Francisco on the 10th of February 2014. This special event was held in one of the top hotels in the city – San Francisco Marriott Marquis. With the great atmosphere, terrific drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and most importantly, many old pals and new friends of HKUST, it proved to be a memorable and enjoyable gathering.

This event provided an excellent opportunity for HKUST to establish new contacts and promote collaboration with companies in both recruitment as well as research activities, which is one of the missions of the SENG Center for Industry Engagement & Internship.

The reception coincided with the 2014 IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), which was held on Feb 9–13, to ensure that many of our alumni and friends working in the semiconductor and IC industry would be able to join us. Nearly 60 alumni from the Bay Area participated in this wonderful event. A number of ECE faculty members, including Prof. Patrick YueProf. Wing-hung KiProf. Howard Luong and Prof. Philip Mok, came to share with our alumni their latest research and the new developments and expansions at our Clear Water Bay campus.
