BASF is the largest chemical company in the world with Verbund manufacturing sites in Europe, the United States and Asia. In October 2004 the new global business unit "Electronic Materials" was founded within BASF, bundling all of BASF's activities in this area. BASF's polymerizable liquid crystalline materials Paliocolor LC 242 and Paliocolor LC 756 for applications in displays are also marketed by this new business unit.

Keith Scott has over 15 years of lighting experience with companies with Osram Sylvania and Lumileds Lighting. Since receiving a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Physics and later Master's in Business, he has worked in engineering, light source development, manufacturing, applications, product management and marketing. Keith has collaborated with industrial and consumer product manufacturers, lighting designers and architects, helping them understand the technology and develop lighting systems with conventional and now solid-state light sources. Keith is a member of the IESNA and speaks at events in Europe as well as Asia and North America.
