Professor Shujun CAI received the BS degree in Physics department from Wuhan University of China, in July 1985. He received the MS in Semiconductor Engineering from Hebei Semiconductor Research Institute (HSRI) and University of Electronic Sc & Tech of China, in May 1988 and PhD degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 from University of California, Los Angeles, USA. From 1988 to 1996, he had worked in HSRI as an engineer, senior engineer and then the director of the16th Division of HSRI.   From 1996 to 1998, he was a senior visiting scholar in UCLA.   He has been associated with HKUST since 2012, and is currently an adjunct associate professor.
Professor CAI received the Ten Most Outstanding Young Person award in Shijiazhuang, Hebei (1995), the Kwang-Hua Science and Technology Foundation prize (1994), the Scientific and Technological Progress prize (1994), and the Outstanding Young Person in Science and Technology by the Ministry of Electronic Industry of China (1992 and 1995). He has been appointed as the Honorary Vice Chief Engineer of HSRI since 1998.   He is a member of IEEE.
