Biography:

Yan received the BEng and MSc degrees in Microelectronics from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, in 2006 and 2009, respectively; and the PhD degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Hong Kong, in 2013.

From 2007 to 2009, he was an IC design engineer in eWave Technology, Guangzhou, China, where he designed several analog and mixed-signal ICs. From 2009 to 2014, he was a research assistant/associate in the Integrated Power Electronics Lab (IPEL) of HKSUT, where he worked on wireless power circuits and on-chip voltage regulators. In 2011, he was also an analog IC design intern in Silicon Laboratories, Shenzhen, China, where he was involved in a crystal-less radio receiver project. In 2013 spring, he was a visiting scholar at the IC Design Group, University of Twente, the Netherlands. Since July 2014, he has been an Assistant Professor of the State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI of University of Macau. His current research interests include but not limit to, wireless power transfer circuits and systems, RF energy harvesting, next-generation power management solutions and voltage regulators.

From 2013 to present, Yan has contributed 7 ISSCC papers which are distributed in three sub-areas of PMIC: wireless power transfer (2), low-dropout regulators (2) and switched-capacitor DC-DC converters (3). In addition, Yan has co-authored 40+ journals/conference papers, and filed two US patents. He co-authored two book chapters, and one book entitled “CMOS Integrated Circuit Design for Wireless Power Transfer” to be published by Springer. Dr. Lu served as a member of Technical Program Committee of several IEEE conferences, including ISCAS, VLSI-DAT, APCCAS, ASP-DAC, etc. He also serves as a reviewer of many journals/conferences including IEEE JSSC, TCAS-I, TCAS-II, TBioCAS, TVLSI, etc. He is an invited speaker of Power Supply on Chip (PwrSoC’16) and Emerging Technology (ET-CMOS’17). He organized a special session on digital LDO regulators for APCCAS’16. Yan was a recipient of the Outstanding Postgraduate Student Award of Guangdong (Canton) Province 2008, the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Pre-Doctoral Achievement Award 2013-2014, and the IEEE CAS Society Outstanding Young Author Award 2017.
