UG Alumnus Yik-Hei CHAN Developed Reusable Mask with Photocatalytic Coating

Alumnus CHAN Yik-Hei has developed a reusable mask with a photocatalytic coating which releases a substance that kills or decomposes bacteria or viruses when exposed to UV light. CHAN said that, the masks "consisted of three layers: an outer layer with the photocatalytic coating, a middle layer where a filter that meets KN95 filtration standards is inserted, and an inner layer for absorption of droplets." (SCMP) The team also invented a battery-powered UV storage bag.
